Appian
About Appian
Appian is an integrated low-code platform that enables application creation and digital transformation for any type of business or enterprise. With the aim of helping businesses to develop customized apps to transform their workflow, Appian boasts features such as case management, 3-step quick apps development, business process management, and integration with other platforms.
Utilizing Appian’s low-code development platform, users can create custom apps to be deployed on any device immediately once design is complete. Pre-built connectors mean that Appian creation can be integrated with other apps with the click of a button and without the need for code. Users can configure creations to suit any business by personalizing and defining features such as embedded workflow processes, security compliances, visual display and BPM. For quicker app production, Appian offers the quick apps tool which allows users to create their app in just 3 steps: name it, configure it and share it.
In addition to app development, users can use Appian to manage and automate business processes. With Appian’s Business Process Management (BPM) tools, users can design process-based solutions for tasks using the drag and drop interface, and define policies and procedures. For added efficiency, Appian also allows users to monitor processes, assign tasks, view performance analytics, access dynamic reporting and address service requests.

Business Process Management Suite - Appian
Reviewed on 14/07/2020
Pros
The most powerful feature of this platform for us was the ability to integrate seamlessly into quite a number of upstream and downstream systems using a variety of integration methods (connected systems, pub/sub methods, web services of various types and shared data among others). With thousands of users working across complex, often long-running business processes, this was a key enabler.
Cons
Recent releases have added capabilities only to the Appian Cloud based product, would like these also available to on-premise installations.

I was able to quickly standup useful business applications with Appian that has helped my department become more productive in day to day tasks.
Pros
Appian's rapid application development capabilities allow you to quickly standup a production ready application with a user interface and business workflows.
Cons
Some of the things involved in application development are not standards based. It feels like I have to learn a new programming language, although it is quite simple to learn.
