A window in to my child's life

Pros

Being a parent this is a great solution to see how your child is doing at nursery.The pros for me are the ease of communication with not only the different nursery departments but the option to send a message to a particular member of staff.

Cons

I can't really think if any cons with the software, my wife and I have been using the software over 3 years and it's been spot on all the time.

Everything is easy to use and once we got our heads around how the system worked, by trial and error we really do enjoy using the system.

Pros

Everything is on one site. Everything is very easy to understand and use. I like the overview page where I can see everything and I don't have to keep logging into seperate children, so I can get all of the information I need in one easy way. We have 11 rooms to monitor at our Nursery, so to get the information in one screen is perfect for us. We find sending messages to parents and staff very easy now, it is like a facebook page, but just for our parents and staff.

Cons

We would like to not send out all accident forms and meals straight away, we would like to only publish later on in the day, this is because parents disturb your busy day by ringing, everytime they get a message if they are a concerned parent. We would have preferred a trainer to help set us up, rather than the face to face online training we got.

Very positive, they are quick to get in contact when requested, constantly receiving updates about new features and improvements and it has really streamlined our service, keeping everything we need in one place. Still don't think we have used it to its full potential as there is so much it can do.

Pros

Really easy to implement Famly into our business, allows quick and easy communication and information sharing for service users and staff.

Cons

Nothing really, they have a function where you can suggest new features that would be beneficial to your setting and see what is currently being developed which is great. Already we have had two suggestions developed and now in place within the system.

Famly is great for instant communication with families, it’s user friendly and clearly presented.

Cons

The cost, it didn’t have a message service for parents and carers. It wasn’t as nicely set out

The communication we can have with our parents has increased by 100% since using this app.

There has been great communication with Famly team supporting us to update information and get round any other issues we had, which has been brilliant.

Reasons for Switching to Famly

As the version we use is free and being a charity with limited funds it was the main reason we tried it. We have found this version to have everything we needed to start using an app for communication with parents and tracking children's progress and sharing this direct with the child's main carer.

Very positive, the support team has been beyond helpful as we found ways to adapt the platform to our needs.

Pros

It provides our families with a central location where they can access their child's schedule, progress reports, communication with teachers/tutors, and invoicing. Our families have loved how simple it is, and while we're struggling to onboard a few parents who struggle with tech, overall it's been a great experience (and honestly these families weren't even using email either, so they were going to be outliers regardless).

Cons

We work primarily with K-12 and the core curriculum/activities started out as geared more towards daycare and early childhood development. But we knew this going in and were happy to wait on these functions to be further developed (which they are, and recent rollouts have been great).

Brilliant! Transferring over from our previous software to Famly was initially nerve racking as we didn't want to lose any data, unsure if the new software would suit our needs and the biggest hurdle, we would all have to learn a new system all over again! But the training given was brilliant, clear and effective. Famly staff were always on hand to answer any questions and guide us when needed. Our staff are now confident and use the software daily with no problems at all.

Pros

Training sessions available to cover all aspects. Famly staff are really friendly, very polite, approachable and always on the other side of the phone, e mail or help desk if needed. The software is easy to use, there are great features that our previous software didn't have.

Cons

Training sessions only lasted max 30min, would have been great to have a longer time slot.

My overall experience with the Famly app has been fantastic. This app does everything I need it do for my daycare. I have meetings with a team member frequently. He is friendly and is always ready to help me with anything I am struggling with on my side. He listens when I have suggestions. He goes over any new updates and encourages me to use them in my daily routine.

Pros

How easy it is to interact with the platform. The customer service and the help center are great! I have found that Famly really cares how their customers use their app to its fullest potential. I was given a team member from the beginning and he helps me so very much. He encourages me to use the app to its fullest potential. We have not had just one meeting but seveal and continue to have them to my benefit.

Cons

I would like to be able to have more access to some of the high tiered options.

It would be helpful if in the team permissions, you could grant access to your individual nursery without changing it for the entire nursery group.

Completely and utterly worthwhile! OK so tech-phobes need to learn the package but the parents find it very easy to engage with it so it's a great communication tool. Also Famly works hard to have the most up-to-date knowledge of the (early years) sector so you know every feature it is offers is useful. The more you look into what it offers the more interesting and worthwhile it gets. It streamlined our invoicing system and then our observations and now more.

Pros

This is has streamlined our invoicings.We are communicating more and better with parents (not just messages, but notifications on children, observations, nappy changes, registration etc)We can track our revenue better (trend analysis etc)Lots of industry advice available

Cons

I think I would like the invoice to be clearer for the parent but I need to discuss this more with the Famly team.

Fast, easy to use and stylish look

Pros

The daily diary is a game changer, very easy to stay in touch with parents. Very good now that the medication form is up and running. The new home screen is a very good update and makes it very easy to see at a glance how many staff and children are in, any medications and so on.

Cons

It would be a good idea for parents to be able to create a medication form, at least for non-prescribed medication

The help and support is thorough and professional. The team is patient and will explain in a way to suit individual requirements. There are various help methods including messaging, links and online guide and the response time is quick. Clear examples are provided with screen shots where helpful. The team has a forward thinking approach to ensure the software improvements are in line with industry changes. I have been really impressed and this has removed stressful elements from my role.

Pros

Navigation of screens; links with clear instructions for queries; clear use of colours/icons/visuals to aid navigation; comprehensive reports which export to csv; ability to create own lists from data (e.g. birthdays); straightforward invoicing including ad-hoc sessions, credit notes and debt monitoring.

Cons

Nothing. Once we learnt the differences compared to previous system, we could adapt admin processes to work with Famly. There are several aspects we do not currently use but this is only because we are linked to a local authority's processes. For independent nurseries, many features will be beneficial to efficiency.

It truly has become an integral part of how we work now! I love it that much that when I changed jobs I persuaded my new boss to get Famly - I simply do a better job when I have such a good tool to aid my management!

Pros

I love that Famly is so easy to use. It is intuitive, it has a ton of useful features and has enabled us to replace many many of our paper based clunky and long winded practices. We love that parents have a space where they can go to see all the updates and return to again and again if needed. It is so important that we can communicate among the team as well as with parents in the same space.

Cons

Integration with current business was very easy. In general we are very happy with the software, and even our sister nursery has started to use it now too. However, there are a number of things that we still would love to see improved: *calendar to look like a page (30 days to view) *calendar to show all new starters (day of registration)*ability to input holiday entitlement for the year so that system then can show how many holiday days are left for the staff and management to see (currently still have to have a spreadsheet for this) *ability to upload documents for parents *ability to alter welcome message so we can include links to our policies / all about me books *ability to edit About fields on child's profile so that we can add questions that are relevant for us *ability for parents to upload documents (Birth certificate, proof of address) *ability for parents to fill out their contact details only once if they have multiple children, as well as ability to link children to a number of contacts rather than filling out the same information many times

Pros

Love Famly as it is great for corresponding with parents, recording observations and other information such as nappies, meals etc. Have great help feature and love the personal approach by the Famly team.

Cons

There are too many features?? There are several ways to display or retrieve the same information.Sometimes it is not obvious how to do something. Printing particular pages only prints part of what you want printed.Would like to be able to sign in visitors, students, and others who do not need a login but need to be accounted for for fire regulations for example.

We have had a faultless experience with Famly so far. We have had the opportunity to work in close communications with Famly to adapt, give feedback, be apart of interviews and comment on our emergent curriculum for articles.

Pros

We use Famly on a daily basis across three nursery sites, where all employees comment on how easy the system is to use. We want to ensure we are providing a 5* service to all parents within our settings. Famly aids this in the options it gives us to communicate with our parents and for them to be able to communicate with us, whether that be through sending photographs through the observation tab, or communicating through the messages tab. Families are able to gain an insight into their child's day through the different options it provides.

Cons

The only thing we would change about the software is having 2 year check reports show up on the progress report tab.

We would like to see our points for improvement (please see these in the cons section) still being put forward and changes made where you can.

Pros

Famly is very user friendly
Services users have nothing but positive things to say about this software. Communication has massively improved between all who use this service.
Great to have everything under one umbrella, not more than one app.
Overview of staffing, children and profiles.
If we have something we want added to the app, this is taken on board.
We are all very happy with it.

Cons

There is no 'out of office' for staff (messaging)
Documents section only accessible to staff. We would require a separate documents section for parents to see documents we upload and choose to share, for example Policies and Procedures.
If a child hasn't started but register and you make a mistake on the room moves this can be hard to amend without seeking help. Can this be made the same as children who are registered?
Can bookings lines automatically match room moves (keep room moves manual) without manually putting them in every time, this would help keep a track of children being in the right charge band?
Logs you out too quickly, we know this is a safety feature but can this be changed to suit the setting, no devices out with building for confidential issues.
Can you automatically select child who are signed in on a particular day to select all for posts about news or activities, instead of selecting each individual child.
Could we get a colour code/ letter in icon to differentiate between breakfast, AM/PM snack, lunch and tea?
Medication app like the meals so when we can notify parents when a child has had medication.
Can we have Child Development Milestones on the Child Development app as well as the curriculums.
Manager signature section in accidents/ incident forms (like witness/ other staff).
A function to draft accident/incident so this does not disappear if a manager cannot sign/send immediately.
Messages mark all as read/unread.
Bump posts to top of news feed.

Famly changed our lives! We were in the past with paper and not really maximizing Class Dojo because of how clunky that was. Famly is the best for everyone involved: the administration, the teachers, the parents, the children.

Pros

Too much to list here! Top two are that the Learning Observations being tied directly to New York State Early Learning Guidelines and Go Live.

Cons

Family / parent-to-parent engagement could use a little attention. Teacher profiles in which there could be a Bio section, more information for parents to see to get to know their children's teachers better.
