Overall, I will rate it 9.5/10. The ease of use is fantastic.

Pros

Since I began using CL 20 years ago, it has become a vital product for many projects, contractor hiring and equipment acquisition. I love the spam and scam protection as well.

Cons

The quality of acquired assets can be iffy at times and unqualified applicants can be annoying.

I really wanted to like this software but unfortunately it is missing too many features that we need. There are other features that we do not use that could easily be put aside to focus on more accessibility to other social media platforms. I feel everything must be 100% compatible with Craigslist posting manager and must mostly be used inside the software. There is little integration and syncing with other platforms causing me a lot of wasted time having to make multiple posts. Also, the price is not worth the features given and the limited audience available. The audience that you promote to is also very limited as far as customizing your demographic. I honestly do not like this software.

Pros

I like that I am able to customize my posts

Cons

This software is still out of date and lacking many features that most other social media platforms have readily available.

Effective product for people who rely on CL for recruitment

Reviewed on 06/09/2018

Pros

This software is effective for anyone who makes multiple postings in a week, specifically for recruiting. I use CL almost exclusively for recruiting due to the widespread use and reach. The posting manager software helps save me time and hassle.

Cons

It would be nice to have a mobile application.

My experience was average. Nothing stands out to give it that "Wow" factor. But, overall not a bad product.

Pros

The most I liked about the software is it was very user friendly for everyone.

Cons

I did not like how people misrepresent themselves on Craigslist. That was very discouraging at times for staff unfortunately.

Craigslist is great if you are looking for a low level hire. We use it for jobs that are quite easy to fill without spending the $ that other job boards cost. It is great for the easy hires, but not a source for the more difficult hires that require more tracking.

Pros

The cost is cheap. You can post a job ad for pennies compared to the other job boards and sometimes find a needle in the haystack. You can highlight your positions at a small additional cost and get them noticed quicker. Since it's not like normal job boards, your posting can get lost in the mix so spending that extra $ is worth it.

Cons

It's a basic job posting resource. You don't have the ability to track candidates nor search for candidates.

Over the years the have made some changes that I don’t like. My biggest complaint is that they used to let you advertise for a business free of charge and now have begun to charge for it.

Pros

Ease of use from you phone rather than a computer.

Cons

Doesn’t seem consistent on what automatically uploads and what has to be confirmed through email. If your not paying attention to email could miss posting.

Craigslist has what you are looking for!

Reviewed on 29/10/2019

Like I mentioned before, I received five jobs from applications I submitted through Craigslist. If you want to get technical, over the past 10 years of my personal use of Craigslist I would estimate I was selected for a job interview 15 different times and from those interviews was offered the job position nine different times. There was a period where I went a little crazy with applications and was interviewing at five different places within the same week and of those five, four contacted me with an offer resulting in having to choose between them.

It is also a great place to sell and buy used cars and I personally know many people who have done both with great success. As long as you are smart about what you are inquiring to purchase you should have no problems. Always make sure to read everything and do not be afraid to ask the poster any questions you may have. 9/10 you will be met with a friendly person willing to answer whatever you need. I highly recommend Craigslist.

Pros

I've always had a special place in my heart for Craigslist. It has was created in 1995 although it feels like it was always the place to go for your differing needs. From being able to sell your stuff, searching for jobs, the various different services offered and purchasing things, this site offers it all!

I primarily have used it for job postings and it did not disappoint! I have secured five different jobs in the past 10 years due to a job listing I found and applied for through Craigslist. It has a very easy to use interface and I love the option of filtering what you are searching for to your specific criteria.

My sister purchased our Newfoundland dog Bubba from a posting she saw on Craigslist from another state (he was in Ohio and we live in Michigan). She was so impressed with the pictures that she had seen and the description given of the kind of pet owner they were looking to sell to that she responded right away requesting to go pick him up!

It is also very excellent about staying updated with new postings as soon as they have received them. You can count on Craigslist to keep you informed of the positions open in your field and area. You can also save each posting for later viewing if you find yourself not ready to apply/reply to it at that moment in time.

Sometimes I used the normal website and other times I have used the App that I downloaded on my phone years ago. Either way, I am always satisfied.

Cons

I am overall very satisfied with Craigslist and I honestly do not like to say anything negative about it but there is one thing I will advise anyone who is navigating it for the first time to be aware of - scammers. They are everywhere and sometimes they are clever and sometimes they are absolutely ridiculous. They come in all shapes and forms and use every trick in the book to try and scam someone out of their hard earned money. Personally I feel as long as you are aware of this that you should have no problem avoiding those lowlifes. It is not Craigslist fault that the world is full of people who try to get something for nothing.

Craig's List - as one option

We've found many quality employees through Craig's List postings, but wouldn't recommend it to be your only method of recruiting and hiring. Craig's List is under-advertised and many people may not know what it is, or that you can find jobs there. Other job posting websites have more public advertisements. So with less visibility, it wouldn't be the most effective to use that as the only way. However, it may reach a more diverse group of candidates and supplement options very much.

Pros

We like that it's very simple and quick to make an ad. We use Craig's List to post ads for hiring. It is inexpensive compared to other job posting options. Also, Craig's List is easier to navigate than other job posting websites, so we find a more diverse range of candidates who apply. We also like that we don't have to provide our direct email address; you can communicate through the website without disclosing personal information. This helps protect our company and reduce spam or other issues.

Cons

There are many fake ads on Craig's List, which deters some people from looking for a job on there. There tends to be more scamming and spam.

Our firm still has Craiglist as a back up because for the price it's not a bad option to have to see what you might be able to get for potential employees.

Pros

The software is very user friendly and you can put exactly what you want to say on the site for potential candidates for a particular position for your company.

Cons

As much as you specify what you are looking for employee wise you always run the risk of getting potential candidates that don't have the experience for what they are applying for or don't have the experience at all. That was one of the reasons why we moved to Indeed for their process of going through candidates for our firm.

Overall it was so simple and easy to use. I liked that it was super simple and it did not require a whole lost of extra add ons like other sites.

Pros

I loved that it was free and simple. You logged in with your account. Set some things up, wrote your job descriptions and then posted it. It took a few minutes and boom it was done!

Cons

I would say the only thing I did not like about this program is I would get a lot of tire kickers and emails but that was quickly taken care of when I wrote something in the add about not even looking at the resumes unless you came in and dropped them off.
