Pros

This software delivers background check results fairly quickly and they send a copy of everything in detail to the candidate.

Cons

The website is mostly easy to navigate but there should be an app as well.

Pros

The big thing is that Checkr integrates with Greenhouse. It makes running and keeping track of these checks easy without having to hop into another system for tracking.

Cons

I can't think of anything, everything is super great and support has been helpful.

Reasons for Switching to Checkr

We took suggestions from our staff and they had really great things to say about Checkr. I've also worked at other companies before and Checkr is hands down the easiest and quickest to fill out. HireRite and GoodHire asked for info that I wouldn't have because a past company has either closed or have had several rounds of layoffs.

Pros

I can't say I liked anything about my experience with Checkr.

Cons

You can't speak to any customer service representative. All email or chat. Background took a long time, weeks, and they kept pushing the date back. In addition, it only went back 7 years which I was not aware of so it did not help. Someone could have been a serial killer 8 years ago and you would not know it. It was a complete waste of time and money. Would never use this company again.

Great choice for Planning Center integration

Pros

We use this as an integration with Planning Center to background check our many volunteers. It is quick and easy to use. I like that it provides an estimate of when the background check will be completed, allows you to cancel the invitation, and provides tags to filter the information for easy budget tracking.

Cons

The thing I wish they would change most is remove lines that contain cancelled invitations. It is a waste of space. I would also like to see the tags as a column on the Candidates page.

Checkr provides an easy to use and essential background check solution that is transparent to employees/applicants. Pricing of the solution is fair and no subscription is needed. For larger organizations a more automated process would be best to use and new contenders have better APIs and automation. Check your use case and need for automation before deciding on a background check solution.

Pros

- Transparent to employees and applicants that are being checked
- Easy to use online interface
- Very affordable yet comprehensive background check
- Quick learning curve for new admins

Cons

- Online interface is dated and could use a UI refresh
- Notifications and automation could be more advanced

Cons

It can be a little complicated on the back side if you're not sure what you're doing. I don't give many people access to that.

I had an issue with the software and it took 5 working days for someone to get back to me. I had to elevate it to the sales representative. It was taken care of at that point.

Pros

It is easy to order a report. Most reports returned the same day, or within a couple of days.

Cons

There was one report on a male client that took 4 weeks to return, with no explanation.

Although your backgrounds do come back in a timely fashion, your customer service is horribly lacking owners. Beware, I have found multiple incidences where I have been charged for fictitious employees.

Pros

Although it is easily paired with clear care of the customer service is highly lacking.

Cons

I have called and emailed over the span of 3 1/2 weeks. I have spent 3 1/2 hours of labor hours trying to get information regarding my cost. This is absolutely ridiculous.!!

Their is no problem at all, if I'm being honest, I wish that the Checkr will go directly on the candidate page like so we do not need to search them manually because sometimes, it can eat all our time and our AHT will be affected and we don't want that. However, using Checkr on check the BGC on our drivers is its very punctual and easy to use and utilize.

Pros

The features that is most impactful, specially to us, is the background check. Using this we are able to see their BGC result and assess what action we will take based on that. Also, we do not need to send the details of the result of their BGC because Checkr have an automated message that comes through the driver's email once their BGC result is ready or if they have an issue regarding to that. Plus, Checkr is so easy and convenient to use, whether you are first timer. We can definitely process easily with the help of this software.

Cons

The cons that I can see on using Checkr is that when we search the drivers manually using their name, email, or even UUID, it sometimes occupy alot of our time. It takes 2-3 minutes before its shows up. Furthermore, since we are assisting drivers and we usually need to see the candidate page and not the report page. It will be more less hassle if we click the driver's BGC from their application that route us to candidate page instead of report page.

I love using Checkr, is easy, has multiple reports you can run, makes onboarding easier, looks and sounds legit and they keep you informed of the progress.

Pros

Checkr is easy to use, you can send the invite to candidates quickly and effortlessly via email but also send a direct link if needed. The whole process is easy for the user and in most cases, you get results quickly - sometimes in minutes. If the candidate is scheduling an appointment to get a TB test or Physical exam you can check where they scheduled the appointment. It's also possible to resend invited that expired. Search is easy and you can easily take a look if a report is complete. The background check process has clearly mentioned steps and you can track the process live. Checker is giving you an estimate of the duration and they are great at informing users via email whenever they have important updates.

Cons

When sending invites they often end up in the Spam/Junk folder so we need to give a heads up to candidates to check there as well. If sending more than one invite the link in the email will always bring the candidate on the same page (asking to fill in name, surname, contact phone, and email... they get confused when they have to do it over and over clicking on each link in every email they get.
I feel Checkr is super busy, with a lot of users, and support is overwhelmed and therefore slow to respond, sometimes takes days/weeks.

Pros

for me the most impactful on this software is it's very reliable in terms of knowing the important details of the applicant. It's very impactful on both parties for the security of both applicants and the company. I am really impress on the developers.

Cons

There are times when the background check takes too long. for me that's the least I can review for this software and it's part of a process and I am still like it no matter what.

Overall my experience has been pretty light touch. I just need easy background checks. Once, a check was taking an unusual amount of time. Support explained that they were having trouble contacting an employer. So far everything has been pretty easy and I don't have to think about the process. That's what I want! Thanks!

Pros

Using Checkr has been really easy. It integrates with our hiring management software so we don't have to login to extra apps and re-enter data. Customer service has been responsive and helpful.

Cons

So far I have not had a negative experience. I make a few clicks, all set. That's all I want! I don't want to have to think about the background check process.

I love how quickly reports are turned around. Easy to use for both our candidates and internally.

Cons

I'm an admin and work in the corporate office. I need access to see all reports in the system. However, I also run background checks for all corporate employees. Because I'm an Admin, it's an either all or nothing notification on if a BG/Drug Screen is complete. I don't want to be notified of all BGs in our system (of over 5000 EEs, but need to be notified of internal BG/Drug screen completions.) I currently have to calendar a reminder to check if reports are done which is an administrative frustration.

My overall experience with Checkr has been very good. I have never had to contact customer service because I can always check status in the portal, which is rarely needed due to speed of results.

Pros

We use Checkr for our US background checks and love how easy it is to use with ATS integration and speed of results.

Cons

We can't use Checkr for our Canadian employees

The background check system is great. I really like how clear the Misdemeanors or other offense are listed on the reports.

Pros

Checkr provides a list of properly documented APIs which can be easily integrated with your system for performing background checks. The results shared by the APIs can then be used for making a decision on the candidate based on the background checks

Cons

Not much wrong about this software. It integrated nicely with your systems and for any issues which arise in integration, the customer can help you out for resolving those.

Pros

The ease of use and integration with our current church database (Planning Center) has made this tool our go to for all volunteer background checks. Knowing the accuracy and promptness of Checkr gives us and our parents ease of mind that we have done our due diligence in protecting our children.

Cons

There are some rare occasions where we have needed a volunteer to fill a Sunday morning role and the background check may not be returned instantly on late Saturday night or early Sunday morning, but that is such a rare moment.

Pros

Extremely easy to use. The integration with Greenhouse allows us, and the rest of the recruiting team, to easy select the type of background check required for the specific role and send to the prospective new employee. The speed and follow-ups are really five steps above competetors.
